FCS MF-1 Fins - Mick Fanning Fins (Thruster)

The FCS MF-1 Is HERE! We are pleased to announce the arrival of Mick Fanning’s new signature fin, the MF-1. These hot new fins were developed with 2 time World Champ Mick Fanning.

FCS MF-1 Performance Core Carbon Fins
The FCS MF-1 Fins feature Tricoil Technology and is designed for high performance power surfing. The FCS MF-1 Fins are a Large Fin and are super thin, to give you that extra cut through the water. It also lets you push really hard and releases really well, because it has a very consistent sweep. Mick Fanning's signature fins come as a thruster set, ideal for open face, down-the-line waves, particularly good in point and reef breaks, perfect for performance shortboard and fish models.

FCS II MF-1 Fin Material
Performance Core Carbon yields a high performance lightweight fin with Carbon strategically placed to give the fin the best flex patterns possible. FCS II Performance Core Carbon now uses a NEW PCC construction with ‘Linear Flex’ which produces a 3D twist & roll action resulting in a fast, super responsive fin that feels much smoother through turns. Performance Core Carbon fins suit fast surfing and are favored by more advanced surfers who like to perform explosive turns on critical parts of the wave.

These fins work great in smaller conditions -- liven up my board and make it feel fast and maneuverable. But, in conditions, especially with big open faces, they make my board go too fast, and unable to set the rail. These are my everyday fins for FL! When the waves get big and powerful, I usually use something else.

The fins are more grabby and can be thrown loose when needed. They worked better in larger surf and more open face waves rather than dumpy shorebreak.

Overall, when I was in the sweet spot on the right wave, the fins held good, released predictably and worked great in the pocket. However, they were not a good fin set for my V3 rocket. Not sure if it was the flatter rocker or large tail, or a combination of both, but the board skittish if feet positioning was not perfect. In some cases, backside felt like I was missing the rear fin on flatter sections. Wish I had a standard performance board to try them on, because I think the fins would have worked with that style board.

For my weigh and height, the fins had plenty of drive and hold when dropping in or cranking into a turn. I would recommend them for bigger faster waves if your around my weight. Might be a little loose for someone at the high end of the weight range. I bought a pair and will use them for my step up or when I need a little more hold.
